When Brendan is not in a windowless rehearsal room he loves to explore whatever city he happens to be in. He loves to take copious pictures of pretty buildings and nature settings; often pointing out these mundane beauties to his friends several times a minute to their slight annoyance. He also loves to occasionally pick up the guitars from his wall and pretend he’s much better at playing than he is.
While Brendan will love any genre you hire him for, he does have a special fondness for early modern/modern material and pieces generally set around the late 1800s to early 1900s. Think Chekhov, O’Neil, Williams, etc. If you’re of a musical persuasion he has a particular fondness for the musical Floyd Collins which he will manage to bring up at some point if you make his acquaintance
Brendan is originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado and lived less than 20 minutes from the Air Force Academy. Brendan took the rugged terrain and militaristic culture to heart and now spends his days throwing imaginary balls of energy and unexpectedly crying while listening to Jason Robert Brown’s “Star’s and the Moon”.
If you really want to go a bit deeper,
I was raised in the Mormon church and my older brother is severely autistic and was often violent growing up. I never was fully bought into the church and my parents (through no fault of their own) were often busy taking care of my brother. Both of these had significant impacts on my adolescence and I struggled to find peace or place. I would often turn to stories as an escape and as a way of processing what I was going through. Naturally, I now hope my own artistry can help provide for those seeking a little empathy and escape.
